When they give you ruled paper, write the wrong way. Write The Wrong Way It’s a visual representation of moving outside the lines. If you don’t want the ‘lines’ to control your direction you must be willing to take risks. More importantly you must be willing accept failure. Failure is the second cousin of success. If you are not willing to fail, you are not willing to do what it takes to succeed.

Freedom is the greatest asset you can posses. And freedom means you don’t allow yourself to be confined by lines drawn by others.

Are you shifting how you think and act.

Do you stay within the lines or create your own path ? Are you “shifting” quickly enough in this economy?

Since most people abhor change. I am seeing people try to control and limit the size of the changes in which they must adapt. They see the need for the shift but continue to resist it.  Resistance to change is natural, however if we are going to have value acceleration, create an experience economy, and discover your inner genius we have to accept change.

Long-term gains often require some short-term pain and there is a tendency to avoid the pain. No one likes pain but from pain you learn. As a child you may have touched a hot stove. You quickly learned that it was not a ‘fun’ experience. You still use the stove but you are mindful that pain surrounds its use.

There are two choices:

The Pain of Discipline or the Pain of Regret.

The power to affect your future requires focus and discipline. No one says it will be easy. We all have choices and the freedom to make those decisions. Making the initial choice to work hard, remain focused on achievable goals, and staying determined to reach achieve success is often painful.

You have to make choices that often require you to give up free time, social events, and other more enjoyable activities. This is nothing new.

Confucius said, “The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential…these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.”confucius2

Once “shift” begins it can gather momentum like a snowball rolling down hill.

Soon we are buried in an avalanche of change that had a small beginning.

In reality it’s easier to talk against an idea than it is to back it,

Shift happens because it is being forced upon us not because we want it.

Make the best of it. It’s really a choice of which kind of pain you can endure.

Write sideways to move upwards.
