We live in a world where we need all the help we can get. If any of your friends are facing no job and no money they are not alone. If you are facing ‘shifts’ in your life there are always others with similar issues. Find a support group. Make a commitment to help someone.

During the next few weeks we start to think about giving gifts, spending time with our families and over indulging on food and drink. Isn’t this a good time to offer thanks for all that we have no matter how bad things appear to be during these tough economic times? Can’t we find a way to reach out to recognize what we have instead of what we have lost? You know others that have experienced greater losses, failing health and dramatic shifts in their lives. Today, commit to reaching out to someone to help him or her through these tough times.

Imagine how good you will feel when you introduce a new resource to the people you care about? It’s time to give to others in the form of support or advice that they can count on to make their dreams come true.

Corporal Kelsey DeSantis invited Justin Timberlake and Sgt. Scott Moore invited Mila Kunis to attend the 236th Marine Corps Birthday Ball. It’s easy to understand how these decorated Marines would be delighted by their attendance but it was Justin blog that garnered my attention. He said, “Last night changed my life and I will never forget it…I was truly moved.”

If movie stars can find the time to respond, why can’t you? This week take the time to help, do what you can, but make a commitment to ‘just do it.’ Perhaps finding a way to help someone else will help you as well. Let’s make this a week to be thankful and count our blessings. We still live under the flag of freedom, have wonderful opportunities to explore and owe a great deal to others. Let’s give a little extra because after all it is time to give thanks. Happy Thanksgiving!
