Martin-Luther-King-I-have-a-dreamToday marks the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s famous and often quoted speech. ” I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.” My dream is that in this land of opportunity, in this land of freedom of thought, in this land of free enterprise, we can all live the American Dream.  Take the time to re-read Dr. King’s Speech.

Reflect on the words and meaning that is as powerful today as when he delivered it.

You can let circumstances manage you or you can manage them Succeeding after shifts in your life are what is costs to have freedom. If you want to break free of the past, boost your energy, and impact your future then as Nike says…Just Do It!

Dream it.

Dream it.

Even if you are out of work, facing foreclosure, and the future seems bleak remember you can still dream. You can still remind yourself that there is no debtors prison, no longer a stigma for bankruptcy, and no longer a need to be ashamed of what might appear to be a failure. Failure is the second cousin of success. Learn from it. “I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered…”  As you think about your dreams, perhaps you should also think about the dreams of others. Did your significant other give up their dream to support yours?

“I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream.” To the nearly one in five Americans who are unemployed or underemployed, to the students who just graduated and can’t find work, to those who have lost their role as breadwinner or productive, self-reliant citizens, HAVE A DREAM.

To anyone that is stalled by lack of opportunities, create them.

To those that are creating a new personal brand, a new career or simply trying to balance the shifts in life HAVE A DREAM.

America is still unique in many ways. We are still a country of opportunity. Discover a need. Fill a niche. Build a business.  HAVE A DREAM.

It is the freedom to fail that provides us with a springboard for success. More millionaires were made during times of depression than success.

And if you are successful …”This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off..”

Either way…

“Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”
